The BSA Specialist will be responsible for performing daily duties as well as acting as a backup for the BSA Officer. The BSA Specialist will supervise the BSA Assistant.  The BSA Specialist will be responsible to learn all the functions of the Bank Secrecy Act Compliance Program, regulations issued by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and all other related anti-money laundering (AML) laws and regulations.


  • Reviews and tracks Currency Transaction Reports for proper and timely electronic filing via FinCEN’s BSA E-Filing System.
  • Analyzes BSA/AML system software generated alerts to determine if they are suspicious in nature and takes appropriate action in resolution of alert.
  • Review and resolve Watch List Alerts generated from BSA/AML software due to regulatory generated monitoring lists.
  • Prepare and file Suspicious Activity Reports.
  • Reviews daily new account reports and associated risk assessment forms for new account expected behavior monitoring to assist in the Enhanced Due Diligence function.
  • Assists BSA Officer in coordinating regulatory examinations as they related to BSA/AML/CIP/EDD and OFAC related issues.
  • Provides Branch and Back Office support on day-to-day issues related to BSA.
  • Prepares annual review for CTR Exempt Customers.
  • Assists in annual training of staff.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of coursework and work experience.
  • Minimum 2 years banking experience in banking operations with hands on knowledge of BSA/AML policies, procedures and operations.
  • BSA/AML certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Strong PC skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and familiar with Internet Searches.
  • Able to work independently with limited direction from Supervisor.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels. Good verbal, written and listening communication skills.
  • Good Analytical skills.
  • Well organized and detail oriented.
